Welcome to MatrixHost! Here's what you've got and what to do first. Bought the plan? Follow the steps for the account owner. Got a username and password from a colleague? Jump to "If you are a team member".
What you have
- Your own chat server: a private Matrix server just for your organisation. Its address looks like
8e43f5db6a.matrixhost.eu. You'll find it on your dashboard in the card Your Matrix login, next to Server. - Element: the chat app. In the browser it is at
https://element.followed by your server address. On the phone it is the Element X app. - The portal at matrixhost.eu: where the owner manages users, billing, backups and more. The portal and the chat app have separate logins.

If you are the account owner
- Sign in to the portal with the email address you used when you bought the plan.
- Set your chat password: Set your password and sign in.
- Sign in to Element with the username
adminand that password. - Save the recovery key Element shows you the first time.
- Create an account for each colleague: Add your team.
- Send each colleague their login: Send login details to a colleague.

If you are a team member
- Open the message your admin sent you with your username, password and server address.
- Choose your app: Which app should I use?
- Sign in with your username (for example
marco), not your email address. - Save the recovery key Element shows you the first time. You need it on every new phone or computer.
Good to know
- There is no sign-up page. The account owner creates every account in the portal.
- Forgotten password? Only the account owner can set a new one, in the portal. Element's "Forgot password" link doesn't work for your server.
